Additive synthesis has never been as popular other forms of synthesis. While its potential is equally infinite, infinite potential isn't easy to give shape with just a handful of clear parameters...Or is it? The Nektor Bolt may well be the exception to the rule since this virtual synthesizer shapes oscillator sounds with adjustable harmonics. So, instead of a low-pass filter for reigning in highs, the Bolt sets you up with a tweakable oscillator that won't cause you any headaches.

The Nektar Bolt: Good-Old ADSR & Three LFOs

Over at Nektar, they know that any sound only starts to come to life after it's been modulated properly. That's why the Bolt comes loaded with no less than four modulation engines: three LFOs and a modulation envelope generator. The latter's a good-old ADSR, so it's easy to use and probably already familiar to most synth-geeks. On top of that, you're getting a fresh collection of effects including EQ, chorus, delay and reverb and, regardless of all of these options, the user interface has remained comprehensive and beginner-friendly. That's not to say more experienced sound designer can't get their fill out of the Bolt, in fact, the hundreds of presets probably please all musicians and producers.
